PSU Udel is a tough, rigid, high-strength, amorphous thermoplastic that maintains its properties over a wide temperature range. It has good electrical properties, clarity and toughness, plus exceptional steam resistance and thermoformability. It is used widely in food service, electronics, medical devices, chemical process equipment and automotive industries.
Base UDEL® P-1700 resin. Resin is FDSAA compliant.

Applications for UDEL ® Film:

  • Flex circuits

  • Hot melt adhesives

  • Thermoformed food trays

  • High temperature labels

  • Medical device windows

  • Hydraulic piston components

Adhesive Bonding:

 

Udel® may be bonded to itself or other materials using a variety of adhesives.   Adhesive types vary from low temperature applications to higher temperatures

Thermoforming:     Thermalux Udel® Film must be dry before it can be thermoformed.  If not dry, will foam when thermoformed.  Film 9 mil or less will not bubble & does not require thermoforming.

Outgassing
:
    Thermalux Udel® meets stringent outgassing requirements and is clean room compatible.

Light Transmittance:   Light transmittance is 70-85%,

Heat Sealing:    Udel® requires a hot plate or suitable heat source that is covered with thin film of Teflon® Fluoropolymer and is capable of attaining 700F.  Press surfaces against 700F hot plate for approx 10 seconds.  Thermalux® contains small amount of moisture.  Should be dried at 2-3 hr at 250F.
